La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's track & field opened its 2021 outdoor season capturing the five-team UWL Great River Rust Buster Saturday at Roger Harring Stadium at Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex. The Eagles finished with 170.0 team points while UW-Stout placed second with 58.0.
Minnesota State University, Mankato placed third (36.0) followed by UW-Superior (24.0) and Martin Luther College, Minn. (23.0).
UWL recorded 11 individual first-place finishes Saturday, including four in the field events.
Ashley O'Connell won the pole vault (11-9 3/4) while
Hannah Zenkovich captured the javelin throw (106-11).
Kemmesha Thomas and
Mykenzie Vaassen tied for first (16-7 1/4) in the long jump while
Sydney Wambach captured the high jump (36-11 1/2).
On the track, the Eagles'
Savannah Rygiewicz won the 100-meter dash (12.34) while
Brooke McDowell took the 100-meter hurdles (15.30).
Emily Dawidowich captured the 200-meter dash (25.70),
Claire Koenecke the 400-meter dash (59.57),
Katie Banie the 800-meter run (2:18.30), and
Rachel Jeffers the 1,500-meter run (5:01.06).
Emma Malooly finished first (10:53.86) in the 3,000-meter steeplechase for the Eagles.
Banie,
Nicole Lord,
Jessica Stelzner and
Hannah Zenkovich won the 4x400-meter relay (3:56.20).
Other top finishers on the track included
Kelly Aldrich placing second (12.41), Dawidowich third (12.45) and
Aly Reuvers fourth (12.54) in the 100-meter dash while Lord was second (26.39) and
Mara Schroeder third (26.78) in the 200-meter dash. Amanda Weibke took second (16.27) and
Skylar White third (18.06) in the 100-meter hurdles.
Hannah Holm finished second (1:01.86) in the 400-meter dash while
Maddie Hannan was second (2:19.91) and
Greta Koehler third (2:28.18) in the 800-meter run.
Jenna Lovejoy was second (5:12.47) in the 1,500-meter run with
Charlotte Mueller third (5:23.99). In the 3,000-meter steeplechase
Maddy Vantassel finished second (10:53.93),
Delaney Schultz third (11:46.04) and
Julia Anderson fourth (11:46.57).
In Saturday's field events,
Maddie Hansen took second (5-3) in the high jump and the triple jump (34-5 1/2) while Weibke finished fourth (5-1) in the high jump.
The Eagles'
Pamela Gramer placed third (164-6) in the weight throw with
Brianna Schyvinck fourth (163-5), who also placed fourth in the shot put (42-1 1/4) while
Skye Digman placed second in the discus (140-3) and shot put (44-0).
Izzy Carroll was fourth (122-8) in the discus throw.
Abby Meidl placed second (11-3 1/2) in the pole vault and
Lindsay Ruff third (11-1 1/4).
Skylar White was second (105-8) in the javelin throw.
