UWL Never Trails in Win at Carleton; Sets Season-High in Scoring

Carly Coulthart had a team-high 16 points Monday night.
Box Score Northfield, Minn. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's basketball snapped a three-game losing streak with a 77-51 win at Carleton College (Minn.) Monday night in the West Gymnasium. The Eagles improve to 7-4 on the season while the Knights drop to 3-5. 

UWL never trailed Monday with Carly Coulthart hitting a three-pointer on the first possession of the game. The Knights cut it to 3-2, but the Eagles went on a 12-0 run to lead 15-2 on Lauryn Milne's three-point play with 4:11 remaining in the opening quarter. UWL led, 19-8, after the first quarter.

The Eagles took a 32-15 advantage with 4:51 left in the first half on Paige Schumann's three-point basket. UWL led, 39-23, at halftime.

Emma Gamoke's jumper with 7:01 remaining in the third quarter gave UWL a 46-25 lead. The Knights cut it to 49-31, but the Eagles scored six straight points for a 55-31 lead with 3:44 left. UWL led, 63-38, after three quarters. The Eagles led by as many as 29 points in the fourth quarter.

UWL's 77 points set a season-high, breaking the previous mark of 73 versus Coe College (Iowa) on November 17.

UWL shot a season-best 49.2% (29-of-59) from the field Monday, including 40.0% (eight-of-20) from three-point range, and 91.7% (11-of-12) at the free throw line. The Eagles' eight three-pointers and 91.7% shooting at the line are also season-highs. 

Coulthart led UWL with 16 points, going six-of-nine from the field, including four-of-five from three-point range. She also had five rebounds. Milne scored 14 points off the bench, finishing six-of-eight from the field, including one-of-one from three-point range. She also went one-of-one at the line. Kailee Meeker scored nine points off the bench. 

Coulthart, Julia Seidel and Alana Gilles each had five rebounds. Schumann had a team-high five assist. Twelve different players scored in the game while 12 players recorded a rebound. 

Carleton (Minn.) shot 30.0% from the field, including 18.8% (three-of-16) from three-point range, and 62.1% (18-of-29) at the line. Jill Yanai led the Knights with 17 points while Jasmine Choi finished with 14. 

UWL returns to action Wednesday, December 29 at the Loras College (Iowa) Holiday Classic, facing Simpson College (Iowa) at 2 p.m.
