Stevens Point, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse soccer team improved to 8-2-1 overall and 2-0 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) with a 4-1 win at UW-Stevens Point Saturday afternoon at the Point Soccer Bowl. The Pointers drop to 4-8 overall and 0-1 in the WIAC.
UWL took a1-0 lead at 36:45 with
Maggie Hernandez scoring with an assist from
Isabel Batley. The Eagles took a 2-0 lead at halftime as
Sydney Halstead scored her first goal of the game unassisted at 44:26. UWL outshot UW-Stevens Point, 7-4, in the opening 45:00.
The Eagles quickly took a 3-0 lead at 49:22 with
Sophie Amundson scoring.
Rachael Janes recorded the assist. UW-Stevens Point got on the board at 58:59 with McKenzie Johnson scoring assisted by Sophia Reddan.

Halstead notched her second goal of the game at 81:27 to make it 4-1.
UWL finished with 15 shots, including 12 on goal. Hernandez and Halstead each had three shots with Hernandez totaling all three on goal while Halstead finished with two on goal. Amundson and Janes each had two shots, both on goal.
UW-Stevens Point totaled six shots with four on goal. Johnson finished with four shots, three on goal.
The Eagles finished with five corner kicks to the Pointers' two.
Quinn Shannon earned the win for UWL, finishing with three saves. Miranda Nieman suffered the loss for UW-Stevens Point, recording eight saves.
UWL returns to action Wednesday, October 6 hosting Gustavus Adolphus College (Minn.) at 6 p.m.
