UWL Drops Pair of Matches to Nationally Ranked Opponents

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Ithaca, N.Y. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse volleyball team dropped a pair of matches to American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) ranked teams at the Ithaca College (N.Y.) Bomber Invitational Saturday in Ben Light Gymnasium. The Eagles, now 1-2 on the year, fell 3-0 (25-22, 25-18, 25-22) to 19th-ranked Berry College (Ga.) before a 3-0 (25-23, 25-22, 25-18) loss to host 11th-ranked Ithaca (N.Y.). 

Versus Berry (Ga.), Brianne Korducki led UWL with eight kills while Anna Rossner finished with seven and Emma Lawrence five. Abbey Fox recorded 22 assists as the Eagles hit .032 (31-27-125) for the match. 

Sophie Quelle led the Eagles with 13 digs with Lawrence finishing with 11. UWL finished with 10.0 team blocks as Rossner recorded one block solo and five block assists. 

Carson VanCampen led Berry (Ga.) with 11 kills, finishing with two errors in 20 attempts (.450). Molly Bergin and Emily Hancock each had six kills. Jordan Leitch finished with 28 assists as the Vikings hit .096 (32-21-115). 

Laura Beier led three players in double figures in digs with 18. Peyton Breissinger added 14 and Hancock 12. Berry (Ga.) had 6.0 team blocks. 

Against Ithaca (N.Y.), Rossner led UWL with six kills while Lawrence and Laine Hoeffel each had five. Fox recorded 23 assists as the team hit .045 (26-21-112). 

Quelle led the Eagles with 10 digs. UWL finished with 7.0 team blocks as Rossner totaled four block assists. 

Reagan Stone led Ithaca (N.Y.) with 14 kills. Caitlyn Ford recorded 39 assists as the Bombers hit .162 (43-25-111).  Jordyn Lyn Hayashi led Ithaca (N.Y.) with 19 digs while Grace Isaksen finished with 10. The Bombers finished with 4.0 team blocks.

UWL returns to action Friday, September 6 at the Augsburg University (Minn.) Invitational. The Eagles face the University of St. Thomas (Minn.) at 5 p.m. and the University of Dubuque (Iowa) at 7:30 p.m.
