La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse Intercollegiate Athletics Department has announced the hiring of four assistant coaches. The additions include
Jennifer Dimos (soccer),
Megan Smith (lacrosse),
Dipen Patel (volleyball) and
Dylan Ramsey (football).
Dimos, who will also serve as UW-La Crosse's Facilities and Events Coordinator for intercollegiate athletics, is completing her second year as a graduate assistant coach with the Smith College (Mass.) soccer program during the 2018-19 season. She is pursuing her master's degree in exercise and sport studies after earning her bachelor's degree in kinesiology from DePauw University (Ind.) in 2017. Assisting in all facets of the Smith (Mass.) program, Dimos worked on scouting, recruiting, alumni engagement, team operations and fundraising for the Pioneers. She was also an undergraduate course instructor at Smith (Mass.) and served as head coach for the Global Premier Soccer Club in Wilbraham, Massachusetts.
She has been an assistant youth soccer coach at the Julie Foudy Sports Leadership Academy since June 2016.
Dimos earned four soccer letters at DePauw (Ind.) starting all 72 games in her career. She was a 2013 and 2016 All-North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Second Teams. While working as an athletic department intern at DePauw (Ind.), Dimos worked with the Tigers in community engagement and operations.
Smith arrives at UW-La Crosse after serving as an assistant lacrosse coach at State University of New York at Fredonia since August 2018. She assisted with all aspects of the program with the Blue Devils. Prior to going to SUNY Fredonia, Smith was an assistant lacrosse coach at Hilbert College (N.Y.) for one season.
She earned her bachelor's degree in sports management from Medaille College (N.Y.) in 2017 and is currently pursuing her master's degree in sports administration from Canisius College (N.Y.). Smith was a volunteer assistant lacrosse coach at Canisius (N.Y.) in 2017. She has been coaching for the Orchard Park (N.Y.) Central School District since 2012.
Smith, who will also serve as the assistant media relations director at UW-La Crosse, was the lacrosse team captain at Medaille (N.Y.) in 2016-17. She played in 33 career games for the Mavericks while being named to the 2016 All-North Eastern Athletic Conference Second Team. Smith, who served as the SAAC Club President at Medialle (N.Y.), scored 66 career goals while recording nine assists for 75 points. She attended Hilbert (N.Y.) for two years, serving as lacrosse team captain in 2014-15 and earning MVP honors. Smith was selected for Team USA for the Prague Lacrosse Cup in 2015.
Along with serving as the assistant volleyball coach, Patel will be UW-La Crosse's Director of Camps & Clinics for Intercollegiate Athletics. He arrives at UW-La Crosse after serving two years as a graduate assistant coach at Eastern Illinois University where he was responsible for scouting, developing game strategies, and assisting in recruiting. Patel was the head girls' volleyball coach at Mattoon (Ill.) High School in 2018, leading the team to a 28-9 varsity record and winning three tournament titles while advancing to the regional championship. He was also the head coach of Club 217 with a 32-12 record and top-30 finish at the AAU National Championships.
Earning his bachelor's degree in communication studies from San Francisco State University (Calif.) in 2017, Patel earned an associate's degree in communication studies from Diablo Valley College (Calif.) in 2015. He earned his master's degree in kinesiology and sport studies from Eastern Illinois in 2019.
He served as head volleyball coach, administrative assistant and camp director at Pacific Rim Volleyball Academy in Pleasant Hill, California from 2012-17. Other coaching experience includes San Francisco State University (women's and men's club head coach, volunteer assistant women's varsity), Albany (Calif.) High School (varsity head coach) and College Park (Pleasant Hill, Calif.) High School (varsity assistant and head coach).
Ramsey is serving as an interim assistant coach with the Eagles' football team. He will be UW-La Crosse's Special Teams Coordinator and Defensive Backs Coach. He worked at Northern Illinois University the last two seasons, including last year as a graduate assistant with the wide receivers. Ramsey also worked with special teams with the Huskies. He was the defensive backs coach at UW-La Crosse in March through June 2016.
Prior to working with the Eagles, Ramsey was the cornerbacks coach at North Carolina Wesleyan College for one season.
He earned his undergraduate degree in business administration from the University of Dubuque (Iowa) in 2014. Ramsey was a four-year letterwinner for the Spartans, earning 2012 and 2014 All-Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) honors.
