#9 UW-La Crosse 22, #14 UW-Whitewater 21
La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse wrestling team rallied for a 22-21 victory over UW-Whitewater Thursday night in Mitchell Hall. The Eagles, ranked ninth in the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) improve to 10-3 overall and 4-1 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) while the Warhawks, ranked 14th in the country, fall to 7-5 overall and 4-1 in the conference.
UWL improves to 60-7 in conference duals since the 2006-07 season.

The dual started at 174-pounds as UW-Whitewater's Nicholas Bonomo won by decision (8-2) over UWL's
Reed Williams to give the Warhawks a 3-0 lead. UW-Whitewater took the next two duals to lead, 12-0, as Jaritt Shinhoster won by fall (4:03) over
Will Storch at 184-pounds and Riley Kauzlaric won by decision (6-0) over
Cullen Bauer-Trottier at 197.

UWL got on the scoreboard at 285-pounds with
Konrad Ernst winning by fall (2:59) over Ian Ruble at 285-pounds. Ernst, ranked fourth in the NCAA Division III, improves to 17-0 on the season.
UW-Whitewater's Mike Tortorice, ranked eighth at 125-pounds, responded with a win by fall (1:33) over UWL's
Tristan Jenny to give the Warhawks a 18-6 advantage. Tortorice improved to 17-3 on the year with the win. The Eagles'
Josh Stenger cut the lead to 18-9 with a win by decision (9-3) over Blake Huffmon at 133-pounds. Stenger is now 12-4 on the season while being ranked ninth in the country.

Hazin Rice gave UW-Whitewater a 21-9 lead at 141-pounds after a win by decision (2-1) over UWL's
Hayden Schlough. The Eagles started their comeback at 149-pounds as
Logan Schlough won by fall (2:43) over Mac Casella to make it 21-15. At 157-pounds, UWL's eighth-ranked
Grant Zamin won by major decision (19-7) over Sonny Schieldt to cut the deficit to 21-19.

The dual came down to the 165-pound match between UWL's
Jackson Schoen and UW-Whitewater's Ryder Sigler. After a scoreless first period, Schoen took a 2-0 lead in the second period on a takedown. He led 3-0 with an escape and added a takedown for a 5-0 advantage. Schoen earned one point with riding time (2:00) to pick up a 6-0 victory.
UWL returns to action Friday, January 25 at the Wheaton College (Ill.) Pete Willson Invitational.
