Men's Basketball Team Falls at UW-Oshkosh

Oshkosh, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse men's basketball team fell 70-54 at 21st-ranked UW-Oshkosh Saturday night in Kolf Sports Center. The Eagles drop to 11-12 overall and 3-9 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) while the Titans improve to 18-5 overall and 8-4 in the conference. UW-Oshkosh is ranked 21st on this week's D3hoops.com Top-25 Poll. 

UW-Oshkosh never trailed in Saturday's game. The Titans led 14-13 with 10:36 remaining in the first half after the Eagles' Lane Von Rueden's jumper, but UW-Oshkosh used a 11-2 run to lead 25-15. UWL later cut the lead to 28-21 with 1:58 left on Wyatt Cook's layup, but Charlie Noone's three-pointer with 1:36 remaining gave UW-Oshkosh a 31-21 halftime lead.

UWL trailed 38-27 with 16:27 left in the second half when it went on a 6-0 run to cut the deficit to 38-33 with 13:42 remaining after Sam Skoyen's three-point field goal. UW-Oshkosh led 45-37 with 11:39 left and used a 10-0 run for a 55-37 advantage with 8:10 remaining. UWL could get no closer than 13 points the rest of game.

UWL shot 38.6% from the field, including 33.3% (five-of-15) from three-point range, and 41.7% (five-of-12) at the line. Brendon Manning led the Eagles with 13 points and eight rebounds while Lane Von Rueden scored 10 points and Skoyen eight.

UW-Oshkosh shot 44.9% from the field, including 36.8% (seven-of-19) from three-point range, and 70.4% (19-of-27) at the line. Jack Flynn led the Titans with 21 points, finishing six-of-nine from the field and nine-of-10 at the free throw line. Noone finished with 15 points, going four-of-seven from three-point range. Ben Boots and Adam Fravert each had eight points. Noone and Boots became the 31st and 32nd players in school history to record 1,000 career points.

UWL returns to action Wednesday, February 14 hosting UW-Stout at 7 p.m. in its regular-season home finale.
