UW-La Crosse Earns Win over UW-Stout in Home Finale

La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse men's basketball team earned a 76-57 victory over UW-Stout Wednesday night in Mitchell Hall in the Eagles' regular-season home finale. The Eagles improve to 12-12 overall and 4-9 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC), snapping a five-game losing streak. The Blue Devils drop to 8-16 overall and 2-11 in the conference. 

The game featured four times and four lead changes in the first half. UWL led by as many as six points in the first half before taking a 32-31 halftime advantage.

UWL opened the second half on a 15-3 run to lead 47-34 with 14:12 left after Luke Norcia's three-pointer. The Eagles made five-of-seven field goal attempts to start the second half. UW-Stout cut the lead to 51-41 with 10:34 remaining when UWL used a 12-2 run to lead 63-43 with 6:38 left. The Eagles led by as many as 27 points in the second half.  

UWL shot 48.3% from the field, including 44.4% (12-of-27) from three-point range, and 85.7% (six-of-seven) at the line. The Eagles set a season-high with their 12 three-point field goals made. UWL tied a season-high with 17 assists and set a season-high with six blocks in the game. 

Ben Meinholz led the Eagles with 17 points and 10 rebounds, recording his first double-double of the season. He finished seven-of-11 from the field, including two-of-three from three-point range, and one-of-one at the free throw line. Meinholz also added three assists and two blocks. Taulvish McCray finished with 16 points, going five-of-eight from three-point range, while adding three assists. Brendon Manning had 10 points, seven rebounds and three assists. 

Senior Milton Cummings finished with eight points, five rebounds, three assists and team-high three steals. 

UW-Stout shot 42.2% from the field, including 22.2% (four-of-18) from three-point range, and 88.2% (15-of-17) at the line. Elliott finished with 27 points for the Blue Devils, going 12-of-12 at the line. He becomes the ninth player in WIAC history to finish at least 12-of-12 at the line. 

UWL returns to action Saturday, February 17 at UW-Whitewater at 5 p.m. in the regular-season finale.
