Box Score Eau Claire, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse football wrapped up its regular season with a 42-0 win at UW-Eau Claire Saturday afternoon at Carson Park. The Eagles improve to 7-3 overall and 5-2 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) while the Blugolds drop to 4-6 overall and 2-5 in the conference.Â
UWL earned its first shutout over UW-Eau Claire since a 21-0 victory on November 4, 1972.
Austin Mancosky
UWL took a 7-0 lead with 10:19 left in the first quarter as
Ben Schramski scored on a four-yard run. The Eagles went 19 yards in five plays and 1:29.  The Eagles made it 14-0 with 3:23 remaining in the opening quarter with
Austin Mancosky scoring on a 56-yard touchdown run. The drive went three plays and 69 yards in 1:11.Â
Schramski connected with
Jake Simuncak on a 40-yard touchdown pass on the second play of the second quarter to give UWL a 21-0 lead with 14:13 remaining. The Eagles went 60 yards in six plays and 6:17. Â
UW-Eau Claire drove to the UWL one-yard line with 5:07 left in the second quarter, but
Elijah McGeehan recovered a Scott Procter fumble in the Eagles' end-zone to end the drive. Two plays later, Schramski threw a 66-yard touchdown pass to
Cole Spieker with 4:49 remaining to make it 28-0.  Proctor was intercepted by UWL's
Alexander Villarreal at the Eagles' 10-yard line on the Blugolds' next drive and UWL took a 28-0 halftime lead.
Schramski got his second rushing touchdown of the game with 11:45 left in the third quarter, scoring on a 48-yard run, for a 35-0 lead.  UW-Eau Claire followed with a 16-play drive to the UWL five-yard line, but Procter's fourth-down pass was incomplete.Â
UWL finished the scoring on Schramski's 11-yard touchdown pass to
Joshua Rhea with 5:12 remaining in the game. The Eagles went 54 yards in six plays and 3:21. UW-Eau Claire fumbled for the second time in the red-zone on its final drive of the game with
Josiah Goerlitz recovering the fumble at UWL's one-yard line.
Elijah McGeehan
UWL finished with 459 yards of offense Saturday, including 237 rushing and 222 passing. The Eagles had 16 first downs and were six-of-12 on third-down while winning the time of possession, 30:55 to 29:05.  Schramski went 10-of-17 for 230 yards with three touchdowns while also rushing for 55 yards on five carries and two touchdowns. Mancosky totaled 141 yards rushing on 19 carries with one touchdown. Spieker caught three passes for 119 yards while Simuncak (47 yards) and
Dominic Labellarte (30) each had two catches.Â
UW-Eau Claire totaled 296 yards, including 113 rushing and 183 passing. The Blugolds finished with 17 first downs and were two-of-16 on third-down. Procter was 10-of-22 for 147 yards with one interception. Brian Kulaga led UW-Eau Claire with 66 yards rushing on 18 carries while Brad Lachman had four catches for 46 yards. Leeshaun Evans finished with three catches for 99 yards.Â
McGeehan led UWL with 10 tackles while also recovering a fumble.
Jacob Gerzsik and
Noah Schober each had six tackles.
Zachary Zillmer had 3.5 tackles for loss. Sam Romanski led UW-Eau Claire with eight tackles.Â
