Ettrick, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's cross country team placed third at the 25th Annual Tori Neubauer Invitational Saturday at Ettrick Golf Club. The Eagles, ranked 31st in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III Poll, finished with 86 team points while Iowa Central Community College took the team championship with 42 points and Augustana College (S.D.) was second with 57.
Iowa Central Community College is ranked first in the USTFCCCA National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division I while Augustana (S.D.) is sixth in the USTFCCCA NCAA Division II Poll.
Sadie Kroll
Nebraska Wesleyan University placed fourth (108) with UW-River Falls fifth (187). The University of Minnesota (211), Grinnell College (Iowa) (217), Luther College (Iowa) (221), Macalester College (Minn.) (241) and Illinois Wesleyan University (242) rounded out the top-10. A total of 19 teams competed.
Andrea Brekken
UWL's
Hannah Beilke captured the individual title with a winning time of 21:41.6 on the 6,000-meter course. She is the first UWL runner to win the event since
Julia Rudd in 2005. Beilke placed 21st in last year's Neubauer Invitational after finishing 40th in 2016 and 30th in 2015.
The Eagles'
Sadie Kroll was fourth (22:09.7) Saturday while
Andrea Brekken was 19th (23:01.2). It is Kroll's third top-four finish in the Neubauer Invitational after placing second in 2017 and third in 2016. She was 28th in 2015. Brekken has finished in the top-30 the last four seasons. Along with this year's 19th-place show, she was 30th in 2017, 13th in 2016 and 11th in 2015.
