Fort Wayne, Ind. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse wrestling team, ranked 15th in National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III, fell 23-18 to sixth-ranked UW-Whitewater in the consolation quarterfinals Friday morning at the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Multi-Divisional National Duals at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum. The duals are presented by Applied Silver, InBody, Theraworx and the United States Marine Corps.

UWL drops to 7-3 on the season after going 3-2 in the two-day national duals. The Eagles opened the tournament with a 33-9 victory over Wheaton College (Ill.) Thursday before falling 17-15 to eighth-ranked Baldwin-Wallace University (Ohio).
UWL came back in the consolation bracket with a 33-9 win over Manchester University (Ind.) and a 43-0 victory over Millikin University (Ill.) before Friday's loss to UW-Whitewater.
The Eagles went 34-16 (68.0%) in their matches in the two-day national duals. UWL's
Sean O'Neil finished 5-0 at 184-pounds with one win by fall while
Wesley Schultz went 4-0 at 197-pounds.
UWL returns to action Thursday, January 11 hosting UW-Platteville at 6:30 p.m.
