La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's basketball team earned a 79-64 victory over UW-Stout Wednesday night in Mitchell Hall. The Eagles improve to 12-6 overall and 5-2 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) while the Blue Devils drop to 7-11 overall and 0-7 in the conference. It is UWL's 12th win in the last 16 meetings with UW-Stout.
UWL's
Elise DeNoyer scored a game-high 25 points, becoming the 17th player in school history to record 1,000 career points. She now has 1,013 in her four-year career.
Terri Sheridan (1975-79) is UWL's all-time leader with 1,554 points.
UW-Stout's Kyncaide Diedrich scored the game's first seven points and the Blue Devils later led 15-6 with 6:18 left in the first quarter on a Diedrich three-point field goal. UW-Stout led 24-16 at the end of the first quarter. The Blue Devils took their largest lead of the game at 29-18 with 8:38 remaining in the second quarter after Bailey Diersen's three-pointer. UWL then used a 16-4 run to end the half to lead 34-33. The Eagles took their first lead on

UWL led 49-45 with 4:13 remaining in the third quarter when it went on a 9-1 run to lead 58-46 with 1:42 left after
Ava Kramer's layup. The Eagles led 58-50 at the end of the third quarter. UW-Stout cut the deficit to 58-53 with 9:27 remaining in the game before UWL used a 13-0 run to lead 71-53. The Blue Devils could get no closer than 14 points the remainder of the game.
UWL shot 52.4% from the field, including 58.8% (20-of-34) in the second half. The Eagles shot 33.3% (six-of-18) from three-point range overall and 77.8% (seven-of-nine) at the free throw line. DeNoyer led all scorers with 25 points, finishing 11-of-19 from the field and three-of-three at the line. She also had seven rebounds and four assists.
Delaney Schoenenberger finished with 16 points for the Eagles while
Taylor Nelson and
Kylee Marks each had 10. Marks had a team-high eight rebounds.
UWL improved to 8-1 at home.
UW-Stout shot 45.3% from the field, including 28.6% (four-of-14) from three-point range, and 60.0% (12-of-20) at the line. Diedrich led the Blue Devils with 23 points, going nine-of-12 from the field, including one-of-two from three-point range, and four-of-five at the line. Diersen added 17 points.
UWL returns to action Saturday, January 27 at UW-Stevens Point at 3 p.m.
