St. Paul, Minn. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse gymnastics team earned a 187.900 to 184.100 victory at Hamline University (Minn.) Friday night in Walker Field House.
Jessica Ahrens won two titles on Friday
The Eagles scored 47.300 on the vault; 45.600 on the uneven parallel bars; 48.300 on the balance beam and 46.700 on the floor exercise.
"The team showed amazing resilience tonight," said Head Coach
Kasey Crawford. "We started out the meet with three unusual falls, and came back the rest of the night to show who we really are."
UWL won three individual event titles on Friday, including two from
Jessica Ahrens, who won the vault (9.600) and beam (9.775) crowns. The score on beam was a career-high for Ahrens.
Lauren Wilson and
Amy Enright tied for the title on the uneven parallel bars (9.575).
Other top finishes for the Eagles included a second place finish on beam from
Sam Weyker (9.750).
Leah Spankowski was third (9.700) on the event, with
Ally Blixt fourth (9.600) and
Dani Barmore tied for sixth (9.450).
Spankowski also tied for third and vault (9.500), while
Brooke Kachinsky was third on bars (9.375).
On floor,
Breghan Kiloran tied for second (9.475), with Enright tied for fifth (9.400).
"They ended the night on beam, and were absolutely lights out," added Crawford. "I'm super proud of this team."
UWL returns to action Friday, January 27 at UW-Oshkosh at 2 p.m.
