Box Score 2 Minneapolis, Minn. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse volleyball team extended its winning streak to nine straight matches to start the season with a pair of victories at the Augsburg College (Minn.) Invitational Saturday in Si Melby Hall. The Eagles, receiving votes in this week's American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Top-25 Poll, earned a 3-1 (25-23, 25-19, 26-28, 25-19) win over the University of Northwestern (Minn.) and a 3-1 (25-16, 20-25, 25-18, 25-19) victory over the University of Minnesota-Morris. Northwestern (Minn.) entered the match ranked 18th in the AVCA Poll.
UWL is 9-0 on the season for the time since 2007 when it started the year with a 11-0 record.
Stephanie Henk led UWL with 23 kills in the win over Northwestern (Minn.), hitting .450 (23 kills, five errors, 40 attempts).
Jill Entinger finished with 14 kills while hitting .345 (14-4-29) and
Ashley Entinger recorded 11 kills.
Madison Entinger recorded 62 assists as the Eagles hit .259 for a team.
Halle Barnabo led UWL with 18 digs while
Paige Schmidt finished with 14 and
Madison Entinger 11.
UWL recorded 5.0 team blocks.
Henk led the team with 12 kills in the win over Minnesota-Morris, hitting .357 (12-2-28).
Marisa Johnson finished with 11 kills and hit .360 (11-2-25) while
Ashley Entinger had 10 kills.
Madison Entinger finished with 46 assists with UWL hitting .287 as a team. The Eagles hit .424 (16-2-33) in the opening set.
Schmidt led UWL with 13 digs with Barnabo finishing with 12.
The Eagles had 13.0 team blocks, including one block solo and eight block assists from
Jessica Jablonski.
Jill Entinger and
Madison Entinger were both named to the eight-member all-tournament team.
Jill Entinger recorded 48 kills (3.00 per set) in four matches while hitting .369 (48 kills, 10 errors, 103 attempts).
Madison Entinger averaged 13.88 assists per set in the invitaitonal while recording 41 digs (2.56 per set).
UWL returns to action Wednesday, September 14 hosting city-rival Viterbo University (Wis.) at 7 p.m. in the Eagles' home opener. Viterbo (Wis.) is ranked fifth in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Coaches' Poll.
