UW-La Crosse 126, UW-Whitewater 115
La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's swimming & diving team earned a 126-115 dual victory over UW-Whitewater Saturday afternoon in its final regular-season home meet of the season in Mitchell Hall's Richard L. Pein Natatorium.
The Eagles captured the 200 freestyle relay (1:39.65) Saturday with
Mikayla Beuch,
Carrie Schrock,
Katelyn DeStarkey and
Sara Zemanovic. The 200 medley relay was second (1:50.70) with
Emma Holbrook,
Cassie Stoick,
Anna Landgraf and Beuch.
UWL won five individual events, including Zemanovic taking the 100 (54.22) and 200 (1:58.26) freestyle. Beuch captured the 50 freestyle (24.78) while Holbrook won the 100 backstroke (59.70) and
Kayley Alioto the three-meter diving (265.60 points) diving competition.
Other top finishes Saturday included
Bekka Reineke placing second in the one-meter diving (249.10 points) and third in the three-meter (237.35) while Aliot was third in the one-meter (234.75).Â
Jordan Anderson was second (243.00) in the three-meter diving while
Christina Reif finished fourth (232.65) in the one-meter.
Landgraf,
Maddie Volk and
Malena Waters each recorded a pair of top-four finishes. Landgraf was third in the 200 I.M. (2:16.55) and 100 butterfly (1:00.98) while Volk finished second in the 100 backstroke (1:01.05) and fourth in the 200 I.M. (2:18.51). Waters placed fourth in the 50 (25.22) and 100 (55.74) freestyle.
Schrock was third (25.19) in the 50 freestyle while DeStarkey placed third in the 100 freestyle (55.42).Â
Nicole Bogenreif finished third (11:32.21) and
Courtney Boak fourth (11:34.90) in the 1,000 freestyle.
The Eagles'
Melissa Klaeser finished second (1:00.75) and
Kaley Brown fourth (1:01.76) in the 100 butterfly while Mckenzie Vermeire finished fourth (1:02.93) in the 100 backstroke. Stoick was third (1:11.78) in the 100 breaststroke.
UWL returns to action Thursday, February 18 at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Championships at the Schroeder Aquatic Center in Brown Deer, Wisconsin.
