Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse baseball team split a non-conference doubleheader with The College of St. Scholastica (Minn.) Sunday afternoon at Copeland Park in UW-L's home opener.  The Eagles won the opener, 6-3, before the Saints came back to take the nightcap, 3-2 in 10 innings. UW-L, receiving votes on this week's D3baseball.com Top-25 Poll, is now 7-3 on the season while St. Scholastica (Minn.) is 11-4.

In Sunday's opener, the Saints scored one run in each the first and second innings.  Austin Colvard walked to lead-off the game and later scored on Trevor Bernsdorf's single to center field to make it 1-0 in the top of the first.  Jake Kuschke's solo home run to left center field in the second added to the Saints' lead.

UW-L, which finished 12-4 at home in 2014, took a 4-2 lead in the fourth inning when it recorded four runs on four hits.  Justin Anderson singled to center field and was driven in Alex Cordova's two-run home run to right field to tie the game at 2-2.  Later in the inning, Joel Zyhowski's two-run single down the left field line scored Ben Morgan and Travis Buxton-Verstegen to give UW-L a 4-2 lead.  The Eagles added to their lead in the bottom of the sixth as Nic Barnes hit a two-run home run to right field scoring Buxton-Verstegen.

St. Scholastica (Minn.) cut the deficit to 6-3 in the ninth after Brian Minks scored on a passed ball.  With the tying run on deck with one out, UW-L's Jameson Sadowske struck out Chris Olson and Padraic Getchell to end the game.

UW-L's first three batters reached base in the bottom of the 10th.  Alex Brown singled to start the frame followed by Barnes reaching on a St. Scholastica (Minn.) fielding error.   Kohlwey's single loaded the bases with no outs.  Bryce Barsness struck out swinging for the first out of the inning and the game ended on the next batter.  Justin Anderson's fielder's choice forced Kohlwey at second base with Brown scoring to cut the lead to 3-2, but Barnes was thrown out at the plate on the play to end the game.
