Box Score Oshkosh, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's basketball team fell 67-45 at UW-Oshkosh Wednesday evening in Kolf Sports Center. The Eagles drop to 9-14 overall and 4-10 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) while the Titans improve to 19-3 overall and 11-2 in the conference.
UW-Oshkosh, ranked 20th on D3hoops.com, started the game on a 6-0 run and led by as many as eight points in the first half. UW-L cut the lead to two points on a couple of occasions, the latest a
Cameron Chapin layup with 7:09 remaining to make the score 16-14. A
Sydney Kannel free throw with :06 left brought the Eagles to within five at the half, 30-25.
Early in the second, the Eagles got to within a point at 32-31 after a Kannel jumper with 17:22 to go, but the Titans went on a 15-0 run capped by Morgan Kokta's three-point field goal to run the lead to 47-31 with 10:23 remaining. UW-L would get no closer in the second half, and with the win, UW-Oshkosh stays in first-place in the WIAC standings.
UW-L shot 30.8% from the field, including 25.0% (one-of-four) from three-point range, and 80.0% (12-of-15) at the free throw line.
Elise DeNoyer led the Eagles with nine points with
Jenna Anderson finishing with eight.
Maggi Bishop and Kannel adding seven points each.
MaKenzie Miller had a team-high eight rebounds.
UW-Oshkosh shot 41.2% from the field, including 25.0% (three-of-12) from three-point range, and 71.0% (22-of-31) at the line. Marissa Seiner led three Titans in double-figures with 14 points. Taylor Schmidt had 13 points and Alex Richard added 10.
UW-L returns to action Saturday, February 14 hosting UW-Eau Claire at 3 p.m. at Mitchell Hall.
