Women's Basketball Team Falls at UW-Platteville

Box Score Platteville, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's basketball team fell 74-67 at UW-Platteville Saturday night on Bo Ryan Court.  The Eagles drop to 10-12 overall and 4-9 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) while the Pioneers improve to 11-11 overall and 5-7 in the conference.

UW-Platteville led 15-13 with 11:34 left in the first half when it went on a 8-1 run to lead 23-14.  The Eagles cut the deficit to 25-18 with 7:56 remaining after a Marina Kneeland layup, but the Pioneers scored the game's next six points to lead 31-18.

UW-Platteville led by as many as 16 points in the first half at 39-23 with 1:44 left.  The Pioneers led 39-27 at halftime.

UW-L opened the second half on a 9-2 run to cut the lead to 41-36 with 16:36 remaining. The Eagles later cut the lead to 46-44 on a MaKenzie Miller layup, but the Pioneers scored six straight points to lead 52-44 with 11:29 left.

The Eagles came right back with a 7-0 run of their own to cut the lead to 52-51 with 10:04 remaining.  UW-L trailed 54-53 with 9:26 left before UW-Platteville used a 7-1 run to lead 61-54.  Erin Levenhagen made a pair of free throws for UW-L to cut the advantage to 62-58 with 5:32 remaining, but could get no closer the rest of the game. The Pioneers went on a 6-0 run to lead 66-58.

UW-L shot 37.3% from the field, including 27.8% (five-of-18) from three-point range, and 64.3% (18-of-28) at the free throw line.

Jenna Anderson led the Eagles with 14 points while Levenhagen and Mallory Cramer each finished with 11.  Jenny Gallagher added eight points.  Katie Ehlen had a team-high 12 rebounds.

UW-Platteville shot 41.1% from the field, including 50.0% (five-of-10) from three-point range, and 76.7% (23-of-30) at the line.

Stacy Clark and Alyssa Krajco each recorded a double-double for the Pioneers with Clark finishing with 23 points and 15 rebounds while Krajco totaled 23 points and 10 rebounds.  Rachel Cropp added 14 points.

UW-L returns to action Wednesday, February 12 hosting 11th-ranked UW-Whitewater at 7 p.m. in the Eagles' regular-season home finale.
