UW-La Crosse 133, UW-Whitewater 107
La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse men's swimming & diving team earned a 133-107 dual victory over UW-Whitewater Saturday afternoon in Mitchell Hall in the Eagles' final regular-season home meet.
UW-L's
David Flickinger and Jason Uselman each won a pair of events Saturday. Flickinger took the 200 I.M. (1:56.49) and 100 butterfly (51.56). He set a Mitchell Hall pool record with his time of 1:56.49 in the 200 I.M., breaking the record of 1:57.37 by UW-Stevens Point's Alex Anderson in 2003.
Uselman capturd the 100 (48.31) and 200 (1:46.04) freestyle Saturday.
The Eagles'
Erich Schnell,
Jesse Gambrell,
Justin Bublitz and
Andrew Janny each won an event. Schnell captured the 50 freestyle (22.02) and Gambrell the 100 breaststroke (59.59) while Bublitz and Janny swept the diving competition. Bublitz took the one-meter diving (282.15 points) and Janny the three-meter (299.90). Bublitz was also second in the three-meter (297.45) while Janny was third in the one-meter (253.50).
UW-L swept the relays Saturday as
Daniel Streater, Gambrell, Flickinger and Schnell won the 200 medley relay (1:35.75) and Schnell,
Nick Kehler,
Nicholas Brehmer and Uselman captured the 200 freestyle relay (1:27.41).
Other top individual finishes for the Eagles included
Ben Weinhaus second (59.99) and
Matt Bonjour fourth (1:01.92) in the 100 breaststroke while
Spencer Ritt was third (52.82) in the 100 butterfly. Streater placed third (55.19) and
Nick Bietz fourth (55.82) in the 100 backstroke.Â
Andrew Niemiec was fourth in the 500 (5:05.74) and 1,000 (10:25.34) freestyle.
Tanner Folvag finished fourth in the one-meter diving (246.10 points).
UW-L returns to action Thursday, February 20 at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Championships in Brown Deer, Wisconsin.
