Box Score Menomonie, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's basketball team fell 89-72 at UW-Stout Wednesday night in Johnson Fieldhouse in its season finale. The Eagles finish the year at 10-15 overall and 4-12 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC). The Blue Devils improve to 10-14 overall and 6-9 in the conference with one game remaining in the season.
The game was tied six times in the first six minutes of the opening half, including 16-16 with 13:49 remaining when UW-Stout went on a 7-0 run to lead 23-16. The Blue Devils led 29-21 with 10:42 left after a Sami Schoeder three-point field goal, but the Eagles used a 10-1 run to take a 31-30 lead with 8:04 remaining after a pair of
Erin Levenhagen free throws.
UW-L's
Marina Kneeland later tied the game at 35-35 with 5:42 left in the opening half on a free throw, but UW-Stout scored the game's next 10 points to lead 45-35. The Blue Devils led 45-37 at halftime.
UW-Stout led 53-41 with 17:12 remaining in the game when UW-L went on a 6-0 run to cut the deficit to 53-47 with 15:33 left. The Blue Devils followed with a 11-0 run to lead 64-47 with 12:53 remaining and the Eagles could get no closer than 11 points the rest of the game.
UW-L shot 34.9% from the field, including 30.0% (six-of-20) from three-point range, and 68.8% (22-of-32) at the free throw line.
Erin Levenhagen led the Eagles with a career-high 23 points while
Mallory Cramer recorded a double-double with 20 points and game-high 12 rebounds.
Rachel Atchison added 11 points.
UW-Stout shot 43.7% from the field, including 38.9% (seven-of-18) from three-point range, and 74.1% (20-of-27) at the line.
Kyleigh Hebert and Tara Matter led six Blue Devils in double figures with 17 points each. Matter also had 10 rebounds. Schoeder finished with 13 points while Brea Boomer finished with 11. Katelynne Folkers and Becca Smith each had 10 points.
