La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse wrestling team fell 16-15 to Augsburg College (Minn.) Thursday night in Mitchell Hall in the Eagles' regular-season home finale. The Eagles drop to 9-5 on the season while the Auggies improve to 6-5.
The dual ended 15-15, but Augsburg received one additional team point due to criteria number three (total points 51-46).
UW-L, 13th on the National Wrestling Coaches Association rankings, and Augsburg, ranked seventh in the country, split the 10 matches Thursday with each team recording five wins by decision.
The Eagles'
Martino Balsiger at 133-pounds,
Cody See at 141-pounds,
RJ Dilcher at 157-pounds,
Tyler Schneider at 165-pounds, and
Eric Twohey at 184-pounds earned victories for the Eagles. Twohey is ranked first in the country at 184-pounds.
The Auggies received victories from fourth-ranked Mike Fuenffinger at 125-pounds, Will Keeter at 149-pounds, Tyrell Martin at 174-pounds, fifth-ranked Matt Hechsel at 197-pounds, and top-ranked Chad Johnson at 285-pounds.
