Box Score Dubuque, Iowa - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's basketball team fell 77-60 at the University of Dubuque (Iowa) Wednesday night on Jon Davison Court in the Stoltz Sports Center. The Eagles, playing their first road game of the season, fall to 2-1 on the season while the Spartans improve to 2-1.
Dubuque (Iowa) scored the first seven points of the game and led 17-7 with 12:39 left in the first half after a Kayla Springer layup. UW-L went on a 20-5 run to take a 27-22 lead with 5:03 remaining on a
Elise DeNoyer layup. The Eagles went eight-of-11 from the field in the run while the Spartans missed 10-of-11.
The Spartans came right back to score the next 11 points of the game to lead 33-27 with 1:13 left in the opening half. Dubuque went four-of-five from the field and hit all three of its free throws in the run. UW-L's
Sierra Watrud cut the lead to 33-30 on a three-pointer with :47 remaining and
Sam Connolly's layup with :10 left made it 33-32 at halftime.
Leading 38-37 with 16:52 remaining in the game, Dubuque went on a 6-0 run to lead 44-37. UW-L cut the lead to 44-40 with 13:04 left after a DeNoyer layup, but the Eagles could get no closer the rest of the game. The Spartans led 56-50 when they used a 7-2 run to lead 63-52 with 4:28 remaining.
UW-L shot 39.7% from the field, including 37.5% (three-of-eight) from three-point range. The Eagles shot 68.8% (11-of-16) at the free throw line while finishing with 30 turnovers.
DeNoyer led UW-L with 13 points and 10 rebounds while
Maggi Bishop finished with 10 points and five rebounds.
Jenna Anderson had nine points and a game-high five assists with
Rachel Atchison and
MaKenzie Miller each finishing with seven points.
Dubuque shot 42.9% from the field, including 26.7% (four-of-15) from three-point range. The Spartans shot 65.5% (19-of-29) at the line while finishing with 20 turnovers and 20 steals.
Jenna Kotas led four players in double figures, finishing with 16 points. Springer and Jessica Goetz each had 14 points while Emily Brinker finished with 10.
UW-L returns to action Friday, November 21 at North Park University (Ill.) at 7 p.m.
