Box Score La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse volleyball team fell 3-1 (25-16, 16-25, 25-22, 25-21) to UW-Platteville Wednesday night in Mitchell Hall in its regular-season home finale. The Eagles drop to 9-17 overall and 1-6 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) while UW-Platteville improves to 17-15 overall and 4-3 in the conference.
UW-Platteville led 16-15 in the opening set when it went on a 9-1 run to end the set. The second set was tied 6-6 when UW-L used a 6-0 run to lead 12-6 and go on to earn the victory. The third set featured 14 ties before the Pioneers finished the set on a 5-2 run. The fourth set was tied 16-16 when UW-Platteville went on a 6-1 run to lead 22-17. UW-L cut the lead to 23-21, but could get no closer the rest of the set.
Jill Entinger and
Stephanie Henk led UW-L with 12 kills Wednesday night while
Ashley Entinger recorded 11 and
Sydney Bump 10.
Jill Entinger hit .500 with two errors in 20 attempts while
Ashley Entinger finished hitting .526 with one error in 19 attempts.
Maddie Entinger recorded 31 assists and
Paige Schmidt 19 as the Eagles hit .287, their second-highest percentage this year. UW-L hit a season-high .294 versus St. Norbert College (Wis.) September 12.
Maddie Entinger had a team-high 13 digs while
Melanie Martin finished with 12.
Jill Entinger recorded six block assists.
Merritt Johnson led UW-Platteville with 10 kills while Lidia Frias finished with nine kills. Allison Jensen and Jennifer Schmidt each added eight kills. Allie Carter recorded 23 assists and Katie O'Malley 16 as the Pioneers hit .276.
Lindsey Decker led UW-Platteville with 14 digs while Frias had four block assists and one block solo.
UW-L returns to action Friday, October 31 at UW-Stout at 7 p.m.
