Box Score La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's basketball team fell 64-34 to 22nd-ranked UW-Stevens Point Saturday afternoon in Mitchell Hall. The Eagles drop to 7-6 overall and 1-3 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) while the Pointers improve to 9-3 overall and 2-1 in the WIAC. UW-Stevens Point earned its fourth straight win over UW-L and 25th in the last 28 overall.
UW-L led 5-2 with 15:51 left in the first half after a
Marina Kneeland three-pointer, but UW-Stevens Point scored the next nine points to lead 11-5 with 10:53 remaining.
Mallory Cramer cut the lead to 11-7 with a layup for the Eagles, but the Pointers went on a 12-2 run to lead 23-9.
After UW-L cut the lead to 23-13, UW-Stevens Point finished the half on a 9-1 run to lead 32-14.
The Eagles could get no closer than 16 points in the second half. UW-L's 34 points were a season-low.
UW-L shot a season-low 21.3% (10-of-47) from the field, including 22.2% (two-of-nine) from three-point range. The Eagles shot 60.0% (12-of-20) at the line.
Erin Levenhagen led UW-L with 10 points and eight rebounds while Cramer finished with nine points.
UW-Stevens Point, ranked 22nd on the D3hoops.com Top-25 Poll, shot 36.7% from the field, including 23.1% (three-of-13) from three-point range. The Pointers shot 64.1% (25-of-39) at the line.
Lauren Anklam led UW-Stevens Point with 10 points while Jenna Pitt and Allie Miceli each finished with eight.
UW-L returns to action Wednesday, January 8 hosting UW-Superior at 5:30 p.m.
