UW-La Crosse 171, UW-Stevens Point 72
Stevens Point, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's swimming and diving team earned a 171-72 victory over UW-Stevens Point Saturday afternoon in the UW-Stevens Point Aquatics Center. The Eagles'
Tessa Kahring and
Mikayla Beuch each won a pair of events. Kahring swept the one (254.40 points) and three-meter (256.70) diving competition while Beuch captured the 50 (24.87) and 100 (55.34) freestyle.
Other UW-L swimming winners included
Sara Zemanovic in the 200 freestyle (1:59.25),
Allie Yemm in the 200 I.M. (2:15.02), Katie Nadeau in the 200 butterfly (2:15.72),
Emma Holbrook in the 200 backstroke (2:08.11) and
Leanna Schwartzlow in the 200 breaststroke (2:31.13).
Zemanovic was also second in the 500 freestyle (5:22.67), Yemm third in the 200 breaststroke (2:33.93), Nadeau second in the 200 freestyle (2:00.01) and Schwartzlow second in the 200 I.M. (2:16.55).
The Eagles'
Brooke Reynolds had a pair of top-three finishes, placing second in the 200 backstroke (2:11.74) and third in the 200 I.M. (2:16.77).
Brooke Soller was second (11:21.60) and
Robin Hartung third (11:42.38) in the 1,000 freestyle while
Anna Landgraf finished third (2:01.83) in the 200 freestyle.
Shannon Miller finished fourth (55.84) in the 100 freestyle and
McKenzie Vermeire placed fourth (5:23.69) in the 500 freestyle.
UW-L's
Taylor Smith finished second (2:17.65) and
Megan Molling third (2:18.70) in the 200 butterfly while
Lauren Bradley finished second (2:33.51) and
Rachel Medenwaldt fourth (2:34.07) in the 200 breaststroke. The Eagles'
Noelle Anderson placed fourth (2:17.68) in the backstroke.
The Eagles captured the 400 medley relay (4:02.73) with Reynolds, Schwartzlow, Smith and Beuch. The 400 freestyle relay (3:40.57) of Zemanovic, Yemm,
Grace Jarzemsky and Beuch were second.
In diving, UW-L's
Jordan Anderson placed second in the one (252.65 points) and three (249.10) meter competition while
Christina Reif was third in the one (227.90) and three (233.00) meter.
UW-L returns to action Saturday, February 8 hosting UW-Whitewater at 1 p.m.
