UW-La Crosse 170, UW-Eau Claire 73
Eau Claire, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse men's swimming & diving team earned a 170-73 victory over UW-Eau Claire Saturday afternoon in McPhee Physical Education Center. The Eagles improve to 1-0 on the season, including 1-0 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC).
In diving, UW-L's
Andrew Janny swept the one-meter (236.70 points) and three-meter (303.30) competition while
Tanner Folvag was second in the one-meter (230.10) and three-meter (247.85).
UW-L swept both relays Saturday as
Stephen Hanko,
Jesse Gambrell,
David Flickinger and
Erich Schnell captured the 200 medley relay (1:38.15) and
Nicholas Brehmer,
Charleton Skinner,
Daniel Streater and
Jackson Uselman won the 400 freestyle relay (3:17.36).
Individually, Flickinger, Hanko and Uselman each won two events. Flickinger took the 1,000 freestyle (10:31.04) and 100 breaststroke (1:02.15) while Hanko captured the 400 I.M. (4:26.83) and 100 backstroke (54.87). Uselman won the 200 (1:48.04) and 500 (5:03.70) freestyle.
Other winners for the Eagles included Schnell in the 50 freestyle (22.51) and
Spencer Ritt in the 100 butterfly (54.11). Schnell was also third in the 100 freestyle (49.55).
Brehmer was second in the 50 (22.68) and 100 (49.45) freestyle Saturday while
Caleb Cole finished second in the 200 (1:48.97) and 500 (5:06.42) freestyle. Streater finished second in the 100 butterfly (54.82) and third in the 100 backstroke (59.13).
Skinner placed second in the 400 I.M. (4:29.15), Gambrell second in the 100 breaststroke (1:02.19) and
Nick Bietz second in the 100 backstroke (57.93).
Garrett Runing was third in teh 200 freestyle (1:50.63).
Other top-five finishes for the Eagles included
Hunter Burchfield fourth in the 100 butterfly (55.88),
Brett Merley fourth in the 100 freestyle (50.63),
Jacob Kisiolek fourth in the 1,000 freestyle (11:04.13) and
Andrew Niemiec fifth in the 1,000 freestyle (11:13.22).
UW-L returns to action Saturday, November 16 hosting NCAA Division II St. Cloud State University at 1 p.m.
