Holbrook and Medley Relay Set Pool Records

La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's swimming & diving team opened its 2013-14 home season with a 142-101 loss to NCAA Division II St. Cloud State University (Minn.) Saturday afternoon in Mitchell Hall.  The Eagles are now 1-1 on the season.

UW-L's Emma Holbrook, Mikayla Beuch and Tessa Kahring each won individual titles Saturday.  Holbrook captured the 200 backstroke with a pool record time of 2:06.55.  She broke the record of 2:06.91 set by Chelsea Hoff in 2009.

Beuch won the 50 freestyle with a time of 24.85 while Kahring captured the three-meter diving competition with 264.75 points.  Kahring was also second in the one-meter diving (239.65).

UW-L also won the 200 freestyle relay (1:39.59) Saturday with Erica O'Neill, Carrie Schrock, Elise O'Neill and Beuch. The Eagles were second in the 400 medley relay (3:58.75) with Holbrook, Leanna Schwartzlow, Allie Yemm and Beuch.  The 400 medley relay also set a pool record, breaking the record of 3:58.84 set by Hoff, Brianna Peyer, Danielle Ellingson and Clare Hathaway in 2009.

Other top individual finishes Saturday included Sara Zemanovic placing second in the 200 (1:58.03) and 500 (5:20.80) freestyle while Schwartzlow was second in the 200 I.M. (2:14.71) and third in the 200 breaststroke (2:30.02).

Erica O'Neill was second in the 50 freestyle (25.31) while Katelyn DeStarkey finished second in the 100 freestyle (55.96). McKenzie Vermeire was third in the 200 freestyle (2:01.15) for the Eagles while Brooke Soller placed second (11:20.80) and Robin Hartung third (11:33.94) in the 1,000 freestyle.

UW-L's Katie Nadeu finished second in the 200 butterfly (2:14.37) and Brooke Reynolds placed third in the 200 backstroke (2:10.48).

In diving, Jordan Anderson finished third in the three-meter competition (257.85 points).

UW-L returns to action Saturday, November 23 hosting the River City Relays starting at 10 a.m.
