Adam Sheley of
Geneseo, Ill. (H.S.) has been selected to the 2012 Capital One Academic All-District ® Six Men's At-Large First Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). He now advances to the Capital One Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.
The District Six team includes all NCAA Division III student-athletes from Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin. Sheley is one of 12 student-athletes named to the district team. Jason Yuel from UW-River Falls and Joseph Clapp of UW-Stevens Point from the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) were also named to the all-district team.
Sheley is a broad field social studies education major with a 3.81 grade point average.
He earned his second career NCAA Division III All-America honor in 2012 with a sixth-place finish at 133-pounds at the national championships held at the La Crosse Center. Sheley was fifth in 2011.
Named to the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Scholar-Award Team the last two seasons, Sheley finished 26-5 overall this season. He won his second straight WIAC title at 133-pounds.
Sheley went 4-0 at the 2011 Olivet College (Mich.) Duals and at the NWCA/Cliff Keen National Duals. He has compiled a three-year career record of 71-13.
UW-L placed second at the WIAC Championships and fourth at the NCAA III Championships in 2012 .
