Superior, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's basketball team fell 80-57 at UW-Superior Saturday night in Mertz Mortorelli Gymansium. The Eagles drop to 3-5 overall and 0-3 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) while the Yellowjackets improve to 5-2 overall and 2-1 in the conference.
UW-Superior led 10-9 with 15:02 remaining in the first half after UW-L's
Trisha Van Dusseldorp hit a three-pointer. The Yellowjackets went on a 9-0 run to lead 19-9 with 11:33 left. The Eagles responded with a 12-4 run to cut their deficit to 23-21 with 4:43 remaining in the half after a pair of
Maggi Bishop free throws.
UW-Superior used an 8-4 run to end the half and led 31-25.
The Yellowjackets started the second half on a 14-3 run to lead 45-28 with 14:19 remaining. The Eagles cut the lead to 47-35 with 12:36 left, but could get no closer the rest of the game.
Bishop led UW-L with 14 points and three steals while finishing with six rebounds.
Briana Radowicz finished with 14 points, four rebounds and four assists while
Camille Driscoll had 12 points.
Erin Levenhagen had six points and game-high 10 rebounds.
UW-L shot 36.7% from the field, including 35.7% (five-of-14) from three-point range. The Eagles shot 69.6% (16-of-23) at the free throw line.
Sally Linzmeier led UW-Superior with 29 points and six rebounds. She was 10-of-12 from the field, including two-of-two from three-point range, and seven-of-eight at the free throw line. Allyssa Lindberg finished with 12 points and five rebounds while Connir Urmanski had 11 points and nine assists.
UW-Superior shot 46.3% from the field, including 53.8% (seven-of-13) from three-point range. The Yellowjackets shot 79.3% (23-of-29) at the line.
UW-L returns to action Wednesday, December 12 hosting St. Mary's University (Minn.) at 7 p.m.
