Reed Hoskins
La Crosse, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse has named Reed Hoskins as an assistant coach for the Eagles' football team.  Hoskins will serve as UW-L's offensive coordinator and teach in the University's Exercise & Sport Science Department.

Hoskins served as the passing game coordinator, quarterbacks and wide receivers coach at Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa, the past three seasons. The Knights ranked second in the Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) in total offense per game (384.0 yards) and third in scoring per game (31.6 points) in 2010.  The team also set single-game school records for passing yards and touchdowns in a game last year.

“I'm excited to join the Eagles' athletic family,” said Hoskins.  “The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse has a storied football tradition that I am now proud to be a part of.  I'm looking forward to once again working alongside Coach Dettwiler and restoring this program to a championship level.  I want to thank Chair of Exercise & Sport Science Pat Di Rocco, Athletics Director Josh Whitman, and Head Football Coach Joel Dettwiler for the opportunity to become a member of the UW-La Crosse family.”

Dettwiler was named UW-L's head coach February 7 after being an assistant at Wartbug since 2004.

"We are extremely happy to add Reed Hoskins to both our football and ESS staff," said Dettwiler.  "He has experience at a number of great programs and was an integral part of the success that has occured at Wartburg College.  He will be a great fit for our program as a coach and teacher.  He is the type of person that will help our student-athletes to be successful not only as football players, but also as students and people."

Under Hoskins' tutelage in 2009, Wartburg led the conference in total offense (412.0) and ranked second in scoring (30.3).  The Knights led the IIAC in passing offense (3,036 yards) and pass efficiency (134.5)?in 2008 while setting school records for passing yards, pass completions and receiving yards.

The Knights won the IIAC title in 2008 and 2010 and compiled a record of 26-8 in Hoskins' three years. Wartburg advanced to the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III Quarterfinals in 2008.

Hoskins also served as Wartburg's recruiting coordinator since 2009, responsible for recruiting in Central Iowa, South Chicago Suburbs, and Southern Minnesota.

A 2006 graduate of Wartburg, Hoskins also served as an assistant coach at North Carolina Wesleyan College (2006-07) and St. Cloud State University, Minn. (2007-08).

His teaching duties have included courses at Grinnell (Iowa) High School, St. Cloud State and Wartburg.
