UW-L Holiday Inn Express Duals Results
La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse wrestling team won two of three matches in the Holiday Inn Express Duals Saturday in the Mitchell Hall Fieldhouse. The Eagles are now 4-1 on the season. UW-L defeated Cornell College, Iowa (32-10) and Loras College, Iowa (43-3) while falling to St. Cloud State University, Minn. (21-13).
UW-L, ranked third in the Brute-Adidas National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Division III Top-30 Poll, won eight of 10 matches in its victory over 10th-ranked Cornell College.
Adam Sheley (133-pounds),
Ryan Farwell (157) and
Mike Schmitz (174) each won by major decision while
Cory Ferguson (165) earned a win by technical fall and
Billy Mayer (285) won by fall.

Bebeto Yewah (141),
Matt Mauseth (149) and
Mitch Artist (184) earned wins by decision.
Versus Loras, UW-L won nine of the 10 matches.
Albie McKinney (125),
Alex Dahl (141) and Mayer (285) won by decision. Sheley (133),
Bobby Dorn (149), Ferguson (165) and Schmitz (174) won by fall.
Artist (184) won by a major decision and
John Poppie (197) won by forfeit against Loras.
St. Cloud State, ranked second in the county in NCAA Division II, won seven matches in its win.
Sheley (133) by decision over UW-L while Mauseth (149) won by major decision and Poppie (197) won by fall.
In the individual national rankings, the Eagles' Schmitz is ranked first in the country while Yewah is second and Mauseth third. UW-L's Ferguson is fourth with McKinney eighth and Sheley and Artist are both ranked ninth.
UW-L returns to action Thursday, Dec. 9 at Luther College (Iowa) at 7 p.m.
