Coe Scores Final Thirteen Points in Win over UW-L

Cedar Rapids, Iowa - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's basketball fell 62-48 at Coe College Monday night in Eby Fieldhouse. The Eagles drop to 9-2 on the season while the Kohawks improve to 6-2. It is the first win over a top-20 ranked team in Coe history. UW-L entered the game ranked 20th on last week's D3hoops.com Top-25 Poll. 

The all-time series is now tied between the two teams, 1-1. UW-L earned a 68-58 home victory last year.

UW-L trailed 18-16 with 9:46 left in the first half after a Melissa Lang three-pointer. The Eagles trailed 22-18 with 6:34 remaining when the Kohawks went on a 12-3 run to the end half and lead 34-21.

Coe scored the first four points of the second half to lead 38-21 with 18:38 remaining, but UW-L used a 22-5 run to tie the game at 43-43 with 10:07 left after a Lang jumper. Coe's Leslie Ware hit a three-pointer to make it 46-43 and UW-L later trailed 49-48 with 6:10 remaining after a Taylor Larson three-point field goal. 

The Kowawks then scored the final 13 points of the game to earn the victory. The Eagles missed their last nine shots from the field and had two turnovers in the final 5:33. 

Dana Churchill led UW-L with 12 points Monday night while Lang and Danielle Frank each scored 10 points. All three players grabbed five rebounds.

The Eagles shot 33.3% from the field, including 28.6% (six-of-21) from three-point range. UW-L shot 54.5% (six-of-11) at the line.

Kayla Lincoln led Coe with 18 points while Kayla Waskow had 12 points and eight rebounds. Sarah Anciaux finished with 10 points and team-high seven assists. The Kohawks shot 46.9% from the field, including 44.4% (four-of-nine) from three-point range, and 80.0% (12-of-15) at the line.

UW-L returns to action Thursday, Dec. 30 playing Chapman University (Calif.) in Eagle Rock, California starting at 7 p.m. (Central Time).
