Lauren Baeder

Lauren Baeder is in her first season as UW-La Crosse's assistant swimming and diving coach in 2022-23. She comes to UWL after serving as head coach of the Mavericks Swimming Association in Half Moon Bay, California from 2018-19. Baeder coached all levels of swimming, developing a program to help swimmers progress from the novice level of swimming to the level of senior competition. 

Other coaching experience includes with the San Jose Aquatics, QuickSilver Swimming, and West Coast Aquatics all in San Jose, California. 

Baeder was a physical education teacher at Gale Ranch Middle School in San Ramon, California, from 2014-18. At Pioneer High School in San Jose, Baeder served as the junior varsity swimming and water polo coach from 2008-13. 

She earned her bachelor's degree from University of California Santa Cruz in 2007 with a global Theatre major. A member of the Banana Slugs swimming & diving team, Baeder holds the school record in the 1,000 (10:34.04) and 1,650 (17:29.19) freestyle set in 2005. She earned four career National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III All-America honors, including individually in the 200 and 1,650 freestyle in 2005. Baeder earned All-America accolades in the 800 freestyle relay in 2004 and 200 medley relay in 2005. 

She earned her master's degree in the Art of Teaching from the University of San Francisco (Calif.) in 2010.
