Kevin King enters his first year as football coaching staff consultant/player development in 2015.  In his role, King is responsible for implementing leadership development programming for the teams’ captains, and creating an overall championship culture amongst the team.  In addition, King works with coaches and student-athletes to develop effective communication strategies between coaches and student-athletes.  In addition, King provides social media training to UWL student-athletes.

He also serves as a senior lecturer in the sport management program in the exercise and sports science department, and is the academic advisor for sport management students, as well as the sports management association.

King brings 20 years of leadership experience in athletics administration, public relations, and higher education.  Prior to UWL, he was an assistant professor, program director, sport management at Madonna University (Mich.).  He also served as director, athletics director leadership development program at Central Michigan University, where he was responsible for creating mentorship, career development, and media training programming for student-athletes.

Prior to his higher education experience, he served in the public relations departments for World Wrestling Entertainment/XFL, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and the American Red Cross.  He completed internships in the Detroit Lions, Minnesota Vikings, and Chicago White Sox public relations and team operations departments.

King received his bachelor of science degree in organizational communication from Eastern Michigan University, and earned his Master of Arts degree in sports administration from Wayne State University (Mich.).  He completed the sports management institute executive management program at the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor and the University of Texas-Austin.
