Jonny Brenner starts his first season as an assistant coach at UW-La Crosse in 2016. He serves as UWL’s special teams coordinator and running backs coach.
Prior to coming to UWL, Brenner coached the safeties at UW-Platteville in 2015.
Originally from Schwaebisch Hall, Germany, Brenner has been the head coach and offensive coordinator of the Schwaebisch Hall Unicorns (U19) for the last 11 years. He led his team to the first national title and the second trip to the Junior Bowl in team history in 2016.
As a player, Brenner played wide receiver for the most of his 16-year career which ended in 2014. With the Schwaebisch Hall Unicorns, he won the German Bowl in 2011 and 2012. Brenner also played for Team Germany and won the European Championship in 2010 and 2014.
Brenner serves as a police officer in Germany and earned his bachelor’s degree at the University of the State Police in Baden-Wuerttemberg, Germany.
