Gunnar Mach starts his third season as a student assistant coach at UW-La Crosse in 2016. He is completing his undergraduate degree in fitness with a business administration minor. Mach has been a member of UWL Dean's List for two semesters.
A three-year starter at running back and linebacker at Necedah (Wis.) High School, Mach was a Wisconsin Football Coaches Association (WFCA) All-Star Game participant. He earned WFCA and Associated Press (AP) All-State Honorable Mention honors at linebacker.
Mach helped his father, Erich Mach, coach at Necedah for one season. Erich Mach, who coached for 28 years at Necedah, was inducted into the University of Wisconsin-Superior Hall of Fame in 2015.
