Dr. Glenn Wright has been the UW-La Crosse football team sport scientist since 2013. Dr. Wright earned his bachelor’s degree in physical education from Ripon College (Wis.), his master’s degree in exercise physiology from Ball State University (Ind.), and his doctoral degree in exercise physiology from Auburn University (Ala.). While at Ripon (Wis.), he played running back for the Red Hawks.
Dr. Wright is a full professor within the UWL Exercise and Sport Science Department and is the program director for the graduate program in Human Performance.
He oversees and monitors the physical demands, fatigue, and recovery from football practices and games throughout the entire season. Dr. Wright and his team of graduate students utilize state-of-the-art technologies to measure player’s physiological and mechanical loads on the player's bodies and use session specific self-reported data to provide quantitative information to the coaching staff on position-by-position and player-by-player bases to ensure the safety and productivity of their individual development. In addition to monitoring of athletes, Dr. Wright and his graduate students design and implement the off-season and in-season strength and conditioning programs for football and other UWL sports teams.
