Travis Hendrickson starts his sixth season as an assistant baseball coach at UW-La Crosse in 2024-25. He also works as in the UWL Academic Advising Center.
UWL went 36-16 in 2024, earning a trip to the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III Super Regional after capturing the regional title with a pair of victories over Coe College (Iowa). The Eagles finished second at the 2024 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Tournament. The 36 wins in 2024 are tied for second-most in single-season school history as UWL finished 14th in the final 2024 D3baseball.com/National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Top-25 Poll.
UWL finished 36-13 and advanced to the NCAA Division III World Series in 2023. The 36 wins are tied for second-most in single-season school history. The Eagles earned the trip to the 2023 championships after capturing the NCAA Division III Super Regional with a victory over UW-Stevens Point. UWL advanced to the Super Regionals after winning the NCAA III Regional with a victory over Bethel University (Minn.).
The Eagles were 18-6 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) in 2023 and captured the league's tournament bid.
UWL finished eighth in the final 2023 D3baseball.com/NCBWA Top-25 Poll.
UWL finished 24-18 overall and 16-12 in the WIAC in 2022 as UWL advanced to the league tournament. UWL finished 30-13 overall and 19-9 in the WIAC in 2021. The Eagles went 1-4-1 in the 2020 with the rest of the season being canceled due to the COVID-19 public health threat.
Hendrickson spent three seasons as an assistant coach at the University of Mary (N.D.) prior to arriving at UWL, serving as the recruiting coordinator and head junior varsity coach. He was also an academic advisor and liaison for athletics and health sciences at Mary (N.D.).
The Marauders earned 30 Northern Sun Intercollegiate College (NSIC) Academic honors in Hendrickson's three seasons as an assistant. The baseball program also had one CoSIDA Academic All-District /Academic All-American award recipient. Mary (N.D.) earned back-to-back academic awards from the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA). The team was one of 34 NCAA Division II teams awarded in 2016-17 and just one of four schools in the NSIC.
Hendrickson previously served as the assistant baseball coach at Presentation College (S.D.) from 2013-15. He worked with outfielders, catches, base runners and hitters while helping grow the Saints roster from 18 players to 30.
He spent three summers as the head assistant and pitching coach for an Eden Prairie (Minn.) Legion 2 squad that finished 21-9 and won the Todd Oakes League Championship in 2015. The Eagles posted a combined .653 winning percentage. In 2014, he had the same role with a Wayzata (Minn.) Junior Legion team that finished 27-10 and runner-up in the state tournament.
Hendrickson served as the Baseball Operations Manager/Senior Instructor at Pine Tar Baseball Academy and has been a clinician for the Pine Tar Baseball Academy, Northland College Baseball, Central Lakes College Baseball and Minnesota Baseball Academy. He has also been a member of the American Baseball Coaches Association since 2013.
A graduate of Rogers (Minn.) Senior High School, Hendrickson played one season at Central Lakes (Minn.) College before competing three seasons for the Northland College (Wis.) Lumberjacks. A first baseman and pitcher, he was a two-time team captain and the 2013 Lumberjack Offensive Player of the Year. He also was a three-time Upper Midwest Conference (UMAC) player and twice earned UMAC academic all-conference honors. The all-time career leader in triples and the single-season RBI record holder for the Lumberjacks, he is in the top-10 of career statistics/records at Northland (Wis.) in eight offensive and four pitching categories.
Hendrickson earned a bachelor’s degree in business management with a minor in coaching from Northland (Wis.) in 2013. He received a master’s degree in sports performance and leadership from Northern State University (S.D.) in 2015 where he was a graduate assistant in the School of Education working primarily in exercise science and human performance.
