La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse soccer team improved to 8-0 with a 7-0 win over North Park University (Ill.) Wednesday night on Faculty and Staff Appreciation Night at Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex. The Vikings drop to 3-5-1.
With the victory, UWL matches its best start in school history (8-0) set last season.
RANKINGS
* UWL is ranked 11th on the Intercollegiate Women's Soccer Organization for Coaches (IWSOC) Poll in partnership with the United Soccer Coaches.
SERIES RECORD
Jillian Sawadski recorded two goals and one assist.
* This was the first-ever meeting between the teams.

* UWL recorded its seventh shutout of the season. The Eagles started the year with a school record five straight shutouts.

* UWL scored three goals in the first 15:14 of the game.
Aubree Caya opened the scoring at :58 on
Jillian Sawadski's assist.
Ella Opie made it 2-0 at 8:25 off a
Catherine Arnold assist. Sawadski extended the lead to 3-0 at 15:14 with Caya recording the assist.

Gianna Zamborini made it 4-0 at halftime on an unassisted goal at 34:55.
* UWL finished with 20 shots and six corner kicks.
* North Park totaled three shots and one corner kick.
Ella Opie finished with one goal and one assist.
HOW IT HAPPENED – SECOND HALF
* Caya scored at 53:47 on Opie's assist for a 5-0 lead. It was Caya's second goal of the game.
* Sawadski notched her second goal at 56:44 with Caya registering an assist.
* Zamborini finished the scoring with her second goal at 65:34.
UWL LEADERS
* UWL finished with 30 shots, including 19 on goal. The Eagles had eight corner kicks.
* Caya, Sawadski and Zamborini each had two goals with Caya recording two assists.
