Louisville, Ky. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse soccer team improved to 7-0 with a 5-0 victory at Spalding University (Ky.) Sunday at Legacy Fields. The Golden Eagles drop to 2-3-1.
UWL has started 7-0 for the fifth time in school history. The Eagles won their first six games in 2024 and first seven in 1999 and 2023. UWL started a school-best 8-0 in 2025.
RANKINGS
* UWL is ranked 12th on the Intercollegiate Women's Soccer Organization for Coaches (IWSOC) Poll in partnership with the United Soccer Coaches.

* This was the first-ever meeting between the two teams.

* UWL recorded its sixth shutout of the season. The Eagles started the year with a school record five straight shutouts.

HOW IT HAPPENED – FIRST HALF
* UWL took a 1-0 lead at 30:28 on
Gianna Zamborini's goal. A native of Louisville, Zamborini graduated from DuPont Manual High School.
* UWL recorded 25 shots in the first half while Spalding did not have one.
* UWL had seven corner kicks with Spalding finishing with none.
HOW IT HAPPENED – SECOND HALF
* UWL tallied four goals in the second half.

Kate Heiderscheit's assist.
* Heiderscheit extended the lead to 3-0 at 47:53 with
Ella Opie recording the assist.
* The Eagles took a 4-0 lead at 62:42 on

UWL LEADERS
* UWL finished with a season-high 42 shots, including 24 on goal. The Eagles had 10 corner kicks.
* Eight players registered a point.
* Fifteen players recorded a shot, including 11 players with at least one on goal.
* Caya led the Eagles with seven shots with three on goal. Thesing and Heiderscheit each had six shots with Heiderscheit recording a team-high six on goal. Thesing, Caya and
Sera Speltz had three shots on goal.

Jordyn Young combined on the shutout. Nicolai earned the win, playing 50:36, while Young recorded five saves in 39:24.
SPALDING LEADERS
* The Golden Eagles had seven shots, including five on goal. Spalding had one corner kick.
* Karolyn Lighthall finished with four shots, all on goal.
* Lily Brennen took the loss, registering 18 saves.
