UWL Rallies for Sixth Straight Win to Start Season with Victory over Mount St. Joseph

Louisville, Ky. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse soccer team extended its season opening win streak to six with a 2-1 come-from-behind victory over Mount St. Joseph University (Ohio) Friday night at Lynn Family Stadium. The Eagles improve to 6-0 while the Lions drop to 3-1-1.

UWL has started 6-0 for the fifth time in school history. The Eagles won their first six games in 2024 and first seven in 1999 and 2023. UWL started a school-best 8-0 in 2025.

RANKINGS
* UWL is ranked 12th on the Intercollegiate Women's Soccer Organization for Coaches (IWSOC) Poll in partnership with the United Soccer Coaches.

SERIES RECORD
* This was the first-ever meeting between the two teams.

SHUTOUTS
* Mount St. Joseph (Ohio) became the first team to score versus UWL this season.
* UWL recorded five consecutive shutouts to start the season. It marked the first time in school history the Eagles started the year with five straight shutouts. UWL recorded four straight shutouts to start the 2023 and 2025 season. 
* The Eagles have outscored their opponents, 21-1, this season.

HOW IT HAPPENED – FIRST HALF
* Mary Anhofer gave Mount St. Joseph a 1-0 lead at :48 with an assist from Gabrielle Eagan.
* Sera Speltz tied the score at 1-1 at 36:18. It was her second goal of the season.
* UWL had nine shots in the first half while Mount St. Joseph finished with four.
* UWL totaled six corner kicks and Mount St. Joseph one in the first half.

HOW IT HAPPENED – SECOND HALF
* UWL took a 2-1 lead at 72:54 on Grace Williams' third goal of the year.
* Mount St. Joseph was held without a shot in the final 21:27 of the game.

UWL LEADERS
* UWL finished with 21 shots, including 14 on goal. The Eagles had six corner kicks.
* Twelve players recorded a shot. Amaya Thesing led the team with three shots. Speltz, Williams, Monica Wawrzyn, Jillian Sawadski, Ella Opie, Aubree Caya and Morgan Fitt each had two shots
* Speltz, Williams and Caya led UWL with two shots on goal.
* Summer Nicolai earned the win in goal, recording one save. She is now 6-0 on the season.

MOUNT ST. JOSEPH LEADERS
* Mount St. Joseph had six shots with two on goal. The Lions finished with three corner kicks
* Kendal Fox led the team with two shots.
* Anhofer and Preslee Rugg each recorded one shot on goal.
* Megan Kallmeyer took the loss, registering 11 saves.
