HOW IT HAPPENED

Game One
  • Eagle Starting pitcher AJ Curtis would face the minimum hitters through five innings as UWL led 1-0 after five innings. Sam Viniard would give the Eagles the 1-0 lead in the top of the fifth when he hit his second home run of the season.
  • UW-Eau Claire would threaten in the top of the sixth inning as Kellen Smith and Logan Scuglik hit back-to-back singles to start the inning but Curtis would strikeout Ian George and Austin Buck to line into a double play to end the inning.
  • With one out in the bottom of the eighth, Austin Curtis, Smith and Scuglik hit three consecutive singles that scored Curti and tied the game up at 1-1. But that would be all of the scoring for the Blugolds as Curtis recorded a strike out and fly out to end the inning.
  • Charley Rowan led off the top of the ninth with a walk and advanced to second on Brady Burrill's bunt single. Andrew Palm would then record a bunt single of his own to load the bases. Keegan Fleischman then singled up the middle to score both Rowan and Burrill. Palm also scored due to a throwing error on the play as UWL led 4-1. Then with two outs and Fleischman still at second, Luke Walton singled to center which scored Fleischman to make it 5-1.
  • Relief pitcher Austin Olla would pitch a clean ninth inning for the Eagles to secure the win.

    Game Two
  • The Eagles built a 4-0 lead over the first five innings as they scored three runs in the third inning and a run in the fifth. With two outs in the top of the third inning, Rowan singled and advanced to second on Burrill's single to left field. Fleischman would then record his second two-run double of the day to give UWL a 2-0 lead. Fleischman then came home to score on Viniard's single. Then in the fifth, Emiliano Ramos drove in a run with a sacrifice fly  to right field which scored Rowan who had singled earlier in the inning.
  • The Blugolds would score a run in the bottom of the sixth inning on Scuglick RBI single to right field.
  • UWL would get that run back in the top of the seventh inning as Viniard singled through the right side and scored on Ramos' double to right field to put UWL up 5-1.
  • In the Blugolds half of the seventh inning, Will Johnson cut UW-Eau Claire's deficit to 5-4 with a three-run home run to right field.
  • Calvin Hargrove led off the top of the eighth inning with a walk and advanced to second on AJ Levy's bunt single. Levy and Hargrove both moved up a base on Chris Calico's sacrifice bunt. Rowan then put UWL up 7-4 as he drove in both Levy and Hargrove with a single to center field.
  • UWL relief pitcher Logan Zickert would not give UW-Eau Claire much of an opportunity for come back as he retired seven of the eight batter he faced. His lone blemish was a two out single in the top of the eighth.
