La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse Women's Basketball team battled with the one of the top teams in the country but their upset bid came up just short as they fell 55-48 to #3 UW-Oshkosh on Wednesday night.

HOW DID IT HAPPEN
- The Titans would take an early 8-4 (6:10) lead on a jumper by Sammi Beyer but UWL would respond with an 11-2 run to lead 15-10 with 2:05 left in the first quarter. Lindsey Knuth, Katie Waukau and Molly Janke would all hit a three-pointer during the Eagles run. UW-Oshkosh would score the final six points of the quarter to lead 16-15 heading into the second quarter.
- UW-Oshkosh would score the first two points of the second quarter; however, UWL got back-to-back jumpers from Malia Nelson and Grace Knupp to retake the lead at 19-18 (6:53). After the Titans took a 22-21 lead, the Eagles got a Rachel Agg free throw and a three-pointer from Katie Waukau with :22 left in the half to lead 25-22. Paige Seckar would hit a layup as time expired as the Titans trailed 25-24 at halftime.
- UWL scored the first three points of the third quarter (28-25) but the Titans quickly scored four unanswered to lead 29-28 with 6:42 left in the quarter. Both teams would trade baskets of the final 4:04 as UWL led 36-34 heading into the fourth quarter.
- Madisyn Kilboten would extend the Eagles lead to 38-34 with a layup on UWL's first possession of the fourth quarter. Beyer would give the Titans a 43-39 lead on a jumper but Jenna Welsch's three-pointer with 5:40 left cut the Eagles deficit to 43-42. UW-Oshkosh would get a basket from Seckar followed by two Sarah Harwick free throws to extend their lead to 47-42 with 3:10 remaining and UWL would not get any closer than four (50-46, 1:08) the rest of the way.

- As a team, the Eagles finished 20-of-51 (39.2%) from the floor including five-of-12 (41.7%) from the three-point line. UWL was also three-of-11 (27.3%) from the free throw line.
- Knupp led the Eagles with 12 points while Nelson added nine points. Janke and Kilboten each added seven points.
- Janke finished with a game high 12 rebounds while Nelson had seven to help give the Eagles a slight 36-33 advantage in rebounding.
- UW-Oshkosh would shoot 22-of-54 (40.7%) from the floor including two-of-17 (11.8%) from the three-point line. The Titans were also nine-of-13 (69.2%) from the free throw line.
- Seckar led the Titans with 17 points and 10 rebounds while Beyer finished with 15 points and six rebounds.
