Stevens Point, Wis.- The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse men's swimming & diving team leads after the first day of competition at the UW-Stevens Point Invitational Friday night in the UWSP Aquatics Center.
The Eagles lead with 563.5 points with Gustavus Adolphus College (Minn.) second with 514.5 and UW-Stevens Point third with 416.0.
UWL swept both relays on Friday with
Tyler Hartmann,
Jacob Ketterling,
Luca Nociti and
Jesse Hammes winning the 200 freestyle relay (1:24.08) and
Coby Zander,
Preston Nygaard, Ketterling and Hartmann taking the 400 medley relay (3:24.11).
The Eagles won five individual swimming titles, including two from Nygaard. He captured the 200 I.M. (1:55.08) and 200 breaststroke (2:00.06). Ketterling was second (1:55.79) in the 200 I.M. with
Gabe DeWald third (2:14.48) in the 200 breaststroke.
Hartmann won the 100 freestyle (47.35) Friday with Hammes third (48.24).
Owen Acker won the 500 freestyle (4:54.10) while
Caleb Jondle took the 200 butterfly (1:59.46).
UWL's
Aanav Patel was third (398.30 points) in the three-meter diving competition.
UWL returns to action Saturday, January 24 in the second day of action at the UW-Stevens Point Invitational. Action starts at 10 a.m.
