Oshkosh, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse men's swimming & diving team earned a 231-68 dual victory over UW-Oshkosh Saturday in Albee Hall & Pool.
The Eagles improve to 2-1 overall and 1-1 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC).
UWL won 16 events on Saturday, including both relays as Nathan Gehm,
Jacob Ketterling,
Caleb Jondle and
Jesse Hammes captured the 200 medley relay (1:38.25) and
Preston Nygaard, Ketterling, Hammes and
Tyler Hartmann the 200 freestyle relay (1:26.78).
Individually,
Aanav Patel swept the diving competition, winning the one (235.85 points) and three-meter (223.55) titles.
Ethan Pedersen was second (209.45) in the three-meter.
Nygaard, Hartmann and
Owen Acker each won two events on Saturday. Nygaard took the 100 breaststroke (57.46) and 500 freestyle (4:58.83) while Hartmann captured the 100 freestyle (47.89) and 200 I.M. (2:00.68). Acker took the 200 backstroke (2:02.23) and 1,000 freestyle (10:28.48).
Gavin LaBeau won the 200 freestyle (1:50.07), Jondle the 200 butterfly (2:01.65), Hammes the 50 freestyle (21.86),
Gabe DeWald the 200 breaststroke (2:18.76) and
Sean Gillett the 100 butterfly (54.18). LaBeau was also third (56.25) in the 100 butterfly while Jondle was second in the 200 breaststroke (2:21.26) and 200 I.M. (2:04.06). DeWald finished third (1:03.13) in the 100 breaststroke and Gillett second (57.78) in the 100 backstroke.
Ketterling had two second-place finishes, including the 50 freestyle (22.30) and 200 backstroke (2:02.43).
Davin Evans was second (10:43.31) in the 1,000 freestyle and third (5:18.54) in the 50 freestyle.
The Eagles'
Luca Nociti placed second (49.31) in the 100 freestyle and third (22.39) in the 50 freestyle while
Isaac Mozena finished second in the 100 (54.34) and 200 (2:05.83) butterfly.
Coby Zander finished third in the 200 freestyle (1:51.82) and 200 backstroke (2:04.68).
Alex McQuestion was third (51.19) in the 100 freestyle,
Nolan Sannito third (10:54.33) in the 1,000 freestyle and
Rylan Close third (2:16.12) in the 200 butterfly.
