Box Score 2 Minneapolis, Minn. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse volleyball team dropped a pair of matches on day one of the Augsburg University (Minn..) Invitational as they lossed 3-1 to host Augsburg University (Minn.) and 3-0 to Lakeland University.

- With UWL leading 9-8 in the first set, Augsburg went on a 6-1 run to take a 14-10 lead. UWL slowly chipped away at their deficit and took an 18-17 lead on an Augsburg hitting error. Augsburg would tie it back up at 22 and both teams would trade points until the Auggies got back-to-back kills for a 28-26 win.
- After the two teams played to a 10-10 tie in the second set, Augsburg went on a 10-1 run to lead 20-11. UWL would not get any closer than seven (20-13) the rest of the way as Augsburg took the second set 25-16.
- UWL built an early 8-3 lead in the third set and eventually extended their lead to 19-8. Augsburg responded with an 11-2 run to cut their deficit to 21-19. The Eagles took a 24-22 lead on an Auggies service error but Augsburg would tie it up at 24 on back-to-back kills. An Augsburg serving error and an assisted block by UWL's Maddy Wilson and Annie Werner.
- A Kayla Sexton kill early in the fourth set tied it at 4-4 before Augsburg went on a 10-2 run to take 14-6 lead. UWL would not be able to recover from Augsburg run as the Auggies took the fourth set 25-11.
FROM THE BOXSCORE
- Grace Nommensen recorded a double-double for the Eagles as she finished with 12 kills and 19 digs.
- Wilson finished with four kills, two service aces and a team high eight assisted blocks.
- Megan Lund and Kailyn Kurth ran the offense for the Eagles as they finished with 12 and 10 assists, respectively.
Lakeland University (Wis.) 3, UW-La Crosse 0 (25-22, 25-18, 25-22)
- UWL's Kayla Sexton helped the Eagles take an early 7-2 lead in the first set as she recorded three kills. A Nommensen kill gave UWL a 10-8 lead before Lakeland scored five of the next six points to lead 13-11. Kurth's service ace would give UWL a 17-16 lead before the set was tied at 21. Three kills by the Muskies and a hitting error by the Eagles would help Lakeland win set one 25-22.
- Lakeland scored five of the first six points of set two before UWL slowly chipped away at their deficit to tie the set at 12 on a kill by Nommensen. The Muskies then scored eight of the next 11 points to lead 20-15. UWL would not be able to recover from the Muskies run as they would not get closer than four (22-18) the rest of the set.
- The third set was back and forth as the first 36 points saw 18 ties and neither team lead by more than two. Lakeland broke an 18-18 tie by scoring three straight points to take a 21-18 lead. Back-to-back hitting errors by the Muskies would cut the Eagles deficit to 22-21; however, Lakeland scored three of the final four points to win set three 25-22.

- Nommensen once again led the Eagles offense as she finished with 13 kills.
- Sexton was one kill away from a double-double as she finished with nine kills and 10 digs.
- Lund and Kurth finished with 12 and 11 assists, respectively.
- Taylor Larson tied for the team lead in digs with 10.
