Eau Claire, Wis. - For the second straight match, the University of Wisconsin La Crosse volleyball team played a nationally ranked opponent and saw a similar results as they lost to UW-Eau Claire 3-1.

HOW DID IT HAPPEN
- UW-Eau Claire scored the first two points of the set and eventually took a 9-4 lead. The Blugolds would then take its largest lead of the opening set at 19-12 and UWL would not get any closer than five (20-15) the rest of the first set.
- The Blugolds opened the second set on an 8-2 run before the Eagles cut their deficit to 10-8. An 8-1 run by the Blugolds would give UW-Eau Claire an 18-9 lead. A 5-1 run that included five kills from five different players would pull the Eagles to within 22-18. But that would be as close as the Eagles would get as the Blugolds took set two 25-20.
- With the score tied at eight, UW-Eau Claire scored nine of the next 14 points to lead 17-13 and look like they would cruise to a sweep of the Eagles. However, the Eagles had one last fight left as they cut their deficit to 23-21 on a Maddy Wilson kill. But UW-Eau Claire would get a kill from Abby Stanwood to give the Blugolds match point at 24-21, but the Eagles would get a kill from Grace Turlais and force two UW-Eau Claire hitting errors to even the score at 24-24. A Izzy Grace kill would put the Blugolds back up on top at 25-24 but a Reese Yocum kill would even it up at 25. A UW-Eau Claire hitting error followed by an assisted black by Yocum and Wilson would give the Eagles a 27-25 win in set three.
- After UWL took a 2-1 lead on a kill by Yocum in the fourth set, UW-Eau Claire went on a 12-2 run including six straight at one point to lead 13-4. The Blugolds would extend their lead to its largest margin at 19-8 before UWL would use an 8-2 run to pull within 21-16. But that would be all the scoring for the Eagles in the fourth set as the Blugolds scored the final four points to win the fourth set 25-16.
FROM THE BOX SCORE
- Kayla Sexton led the Eagles as she recorded a double-double with 10 kills and 14 digs.
- Yocum and Turlais each added eight kills for the Eagles while Wilson finished with six.
- The offense ran through Kailyn Kurth and Megan Lund as they finished with 19 and 14 assists, respectively.
- UWL finished with four players in double figures in digs led by Taylor Larson with 22 while Grace Nommensen added 16 and Lund finished with 12.

- UWL will play in two triangulars this weekend as they travel to Milwaukee, Wis. on Friday to play in the Wisconsin Lutheran Triangular where they will play Wisconsin Lutheran College (2 p.m.) and Lake Forest College (Ill) (4 p.m.). Then on Saturday, UWL will travel to Dubuque, Iowa to play Loras College (Iowa) and Edgewood College (Wis.) in the Loras College (Iowa) Triangular.
