La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse soccer team improved to 7-0 on the season with a 5-0 win over Simpson College (Iowa) Thursday night at Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex. The Storm drop to 3-3-1.
UWL equaled its best start in school history with Thursday's win.
The 7-0 starts equals the best in school history. UWL won its first seven games in 1999 and 2023.
With the win, UWL improves to 6-2-1 versus Simpson (Iowa). The teams were meeting for the first time since 2023.Â
Ranked 16th on this week's United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division III Poll, UWL earned its sixth shutout of the season Thursday.

Monica Wawrzyn's assist. The game remained 1-0 at halftime as UWL outshot Simpson (Iowa), 14-6. The Eagles had six first half corner kicks.
UWL scored twice in the first 4:32 of the second half.
Aubree Caya scored at 45:41 on the second assist of the game for Wawrzyn to make it 2-0.
Amaya Thesing extended the lead to 3-0 at 49:32 with assists from
Jillian Sawadski and
Catherine Arnold.
Caya tallied her second goal of the game at 62:19 for a 4-0 lead.
Kate Heiderscheit recorded the assist.
Sera Speltz finished the scoring at 73:06 after assists from Heiderscheit and
Claire Rankin.
UWL totaled 31 shots, including 15 on goal. Caya finished with five shots with four on goal. Opie, Rankin and
Grace Williams each had three shots. Fifteen players recorded a shot while nine registered a point.
The Eagles had 11 corner kicks in the game.
Aubree Caya had a pair of goals in the victory.
Summer Nicolai earned the shutout in goal, recording three saves.
Simpson (Iowa) finished with 10 shots, including three on goal. Ally Hoffa finished with five shots. Meredith Downs took the loss, registering 10 saves. The Storm had one corner kick.
UWL returns to action Sunday, September 21 hosting Concordia College (Minn.) at 4 p.m.
