St. Joseph, Minn. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse lacrosse team had its six-game winning streak snapped with a 12-11 loss at The College of Saint Benedict (Minn.) Saturday afternoon at CSB Athletic Field. The Eagles drop to 6-3 overall and 2-1 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) while the Bennies improve to 3-4 overall and 1-2 in the conference. It is Saint Benedict's (Minn.) first win in WIAC history.
The Eagles took a 1-0 lead with 12:20 left in the first quarter on an
Evie Brilz goal off
Angie Olla's assist. The Bennies tied it at 1-1 on Kamryn Peterson's goal on Emma Osland's assist with 9:33 remaining. CSB took a 2-0 lead with 7:24 left in the opening quarter on an Emma Nelson goal.

After
Emily Wrobbel tied the game on
Tori Katzenmeyer's assist with 4:17 remaining for UWL, Sami Hackley gave CSB a 3-2 lead after the first quarter on a goal with 2:55 left. The goal came on a free position shot.
CSB tallied the first goal of the second quarter on a man-up goal from Ava Mosley and assist from Hackley to take a 4-2 lead.
Ava Schiltz' goal with 12:43 remaining in the second quarter cut the lead to 4-4-3.
Megan Feeney tied the game for UWL on a
Megan Maloney assist, but Izzy Bohlman's free position goal with 3:41 left gave CSB a 5-4 lead. Feeney's goal with 2:35 remaining for UWL tied the game. Maloney recorded her second assist.
Mosley gave the Bennies a 6-5 lead with 1:10 left before Olla's goal with :16 remaining tied the contest, 6-6, at halftime.
Bohlman (10:56) and Mosley (9:23) gave CSB an 8-6 lead to start the second half. Mosley scored on a free position shot while also recording an assist on Bohlman's goal. Katzenmeyer cut the lead to 8-7 for the Eagles with 3:32 left on a free position goal, but Nelson's goal on Ella Steinke's assist with 1:31 remaining gave the Bennies an 9-7 lead.
Nelson gave CSB a 10-7 lead with :41 left in the third quarter on Steinke's assist.
UWL scored the first four goals in the fourth quarter to take an 11-10 lead. Schiltz' goal with 13:21 left cut it to 10-8 and back-to-back goals from Maloney with 12:14 remaining and 11:47 left tied the game. Feeney provided the Eagles with an 11-10 lead on a Schiltz' assist with 9:26 remaining.
CSB tied the game at 11-11 with 3:17 left on a Mosley goal. The Bennies scored the eventual game-winning goal with 2:23 remaining on Hackley's second goal of the contest. Mosley recorded the assist.
UWL finished with 26 shots. Feeney led the Eagles with three goals while Schiltz and Maloney each had two goals. Maloney had a team-high two assists. Maloney and
Gretchen McCann each had two ground balls while Schiltz had three caused turnovers.
Stefania Rossi registered 10 saves.
CSB totaled 29 shots. Mosley led the team with four goals while Nelson scored three goals. Bohlman and Hackley had two goals. Mosley and Steinke led the Bennies with two assists. Mosley had four ground balls and Bohlman and Merrill Delich had two caused turnovers. Chloe Lewis recorded 10 saves.
UWL returns to action Wednesday, April 9 at UW-Stevens Point at 5 p.m.
