Baseball Sweeps Nationally Ranked UW-Oshkosh; Extends Win Streak To 13 Games

Oshkosh, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse Baseball team swept nationally ranked UW-Oshkosh on Saturday afternoon as they extended their win streak to 13 games.

HOW IT HAPPENED
   
Game One 
  • UW-Oshkosh took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning as Jake Surane scored on a ground out by Nick Shiu.
  •  The Titans would extend their lead to 2-0 in the bottom of the third inning on Logan Schill's solo home run to right field.
  • UWL would finally get on the scoreboard in the fifth inning as Mac Born led off with a single and advanced to second on a ground out by Jack Olver. After a strike out, Cam Dupont would drive Born in with a double to make it 2-1. Chris VandenHeuvel would tie the score as his single brought Dupont around to score. 
  • Surane's two-run home run in the bottom half of the fifth inning would put the Titans back up 4-2. 
  • With one out in the sixth inning, Anthony Vivian walked and then scored on Andrew Rajkovich's sixth home run on the year to tie the game at 4. 
  • Emiliano Ramos would walk to lead off the seventh inning and advance to second on a wild pitch. Ramos would then score on a one out single by VandenHeuvel. Nate Witte would follow with a double to put runners on second and third. Then with two outs, Vivian would put UWL up 8-4 with his third home run of the season. 
  • UWL would add three more runs in the top of the ninth inning as VandenHeuvel led off with a solo home run while Rajkovich hit his second home run of the game to make it 11-4. 
    Game Two
  • The Eagles got off to a fast start in game two as they scored five runs in the first inning. VandenHeuvel led off the game with a single and advanced to second on a ground out. George Seaman and VIvian would both walk to load the bases with two outs. Olver would then single to score VandenHeuvel and Seaman while Born's double scored both Vivian and Olver. Calvin Hargrove then singled to score Born and put UWL up 5-0.
  • Mason Kirchberg would hit a two-run home run in the Titans half of the first inning to the Eagles lead to 5-2.
  • Witte would reach on an error in the second inning and advanced to second before stealing third and scoring on a throwing error. Seaman would then hit a home run as UWL took a 7-2 lead. 
  • Then in the fourth inning, Vivian hit his second home run of the day while Born's home run in the in the fifth inning gave UWL a 9-2 lead. 
  • In the seventh inning the Eagles would extend their lead to 13-2 as they got RBI singles from Keegan Fleischman and VandenHeuvel and an RBI double from Witte. VandenHeuvel also scored on a wild pitch. 
  • Kirchberg's second two-run home run of the game cut the Titan's deficit to 13-4. 
  • The Eagles final two runs came in the eighth inning as Vivian walked and scored on a double by Logan Pye. Hargrove followed Pye's double with a double of his own to make it 15-4.

Game One
  • Offensively, UWL finished with 11 runs on 12 hits and four walks. 
  • VandenHeuvel led the way offensively as he finished 3-for-5 with a home run, three RBIs and two runs scored.
  • Also finishing with multi hit games was Vivian (2-for-4, HR, a walk, three RBIs and two runs scored) and Rajkovich (2-for-5, 2 HRs, four RBIs and two runs scored). The two home runs for Rajkovich gives him seven in the last five games and is his third multi-home run game of the season. 
  • Isaiah Katz (4-1) his fourth consecutive win on the year as he allowed four runs (three earned) on 10 hits and one walk while striking out six in 7.0 innings. Caleb Matl pitched the final 2.0 innings and did not allow a Titan to reach base.
  • UW-Oshkosh finished with four runs on 10 hits and one walk.
  • Connor Brinkman (3-2) suffered the loss for the Titans as he allowed eight runs on eight hits and three walks while striking out seven in 6.2 innings.
  • Schill and Surane led the Titans offense as they finished with three hits a piece including a home run for each.
 Game Two
  • UWL finished with 15 runs on 14 hits and seven walks in game two.
  • The Eagles finished with four hitters having at least two hits including Hargrove leading the way as he finished 3-for-4 with two doubles, three RBIs and one run scored. 
  • Also finishing with multiple hits was Born (2-for-4, HR, a double, three RBIs and three runs scored), VandenHeuvel (2-for-4, a walk, two runs scored and an RBI) and Vivian (2-for-3, HR, a double, a walk, three runs scored and one RBI).
  • Owen Deprez (4-0) stayed unbeaten as he allowed two runs on four hits and five walks while striking out three in 5.0 innings of work.
  • UW-Oshkosh finished with four runs on six hits and six walks.
  • Connor Walters (3-2) suffered the loss for the Titans as he allowed eight runs on eight hits and three walks while striking out six in 4.0 innings. 
  • Kirchberg led the Titans offense as he finished 2-for-4 with two home runs, four RBIs and two runs scored.
